METAL CLAY

METAL CLAY originated in Japan in 1990. Before firing, it consisted of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze or copper mixed with an organic binder and water. It can be molded and shaped by hand or using molds. After drying, it can be fired in a kiln, with a handheld gas torch or on a gas stove. The binder burns away, leaving 99.9% pure metal. The following pieces were all created with this material.
